Amarillo Status of Electricity Deregulation

amarilloIn Amarillo you do not have a choice in your retail electric company. The only way to change this is by getting involved in local government such as the city council.

To participate in electricity deregulation in Texas the city most vote to accept deregulation into Amarillo. Once the vote passes retail electric providers can choose to sell electric service in the area if they feel it is profitable to do so.

What we have seen in Texas is that most retail electric companies who operate in Texas choose to sell electric service in all deregulated cities that are open for competition.

Chances are that if Amarillo decides to allow the city to have electric service competition you will have a large amount of choices in who you get to choose to sell you electricity.

There is no guarantee that deregulation will lower your electric rate but there are some very strong cases out there that it likely will.

We humbly ask the city of Amarillo to consider allowing electric choice for commercial and residential electricity service.
