Texas Electric Bid

Quick and Easy Electric Rate Quotes

If you are a commercial business and would like a no hassle way of obtaining apples to apples Texas electric bids from reputable and competitive electric companies that have a track record of things like, accurate billing, good customer service, ethical contract terms and conditions, and a solid capital base then it can help quite a bit to have an energy consulting company like Electricity Bid go out to bid for your Texas commercial business. Our team of energy consultants work off of a fixed fee that is the same regardless of the provider that wins the bid. We have up to 20 different electric companies compete to win your electric usage and once we have worked down the electric rates among the multiple providers in the mix we create a detailed proposal. We will email this proposal to your company associate who can then use it to explain which provider has the best price. You will know why a provider is the cheapest as well as what the bottom line dollar savings are without the need to worry about additional hidden fees and charges. A detailed electricity comparison proposal will be given showing your energy savings next to your businesses current provider along with multiple other details. The Texas commercial energy prices below are a monthly snapshot of what some of the best rates were for a particular company one day out of the month. The reverse auction can achieve cheaper prices than those in the below chart based on actual or estimated electricity usage.

Texas Residential Electric Service Quotes

If you are a Texas home residence and would like to receive a Texas electric bid we have a simpler more direct process for you. We have worked out some discount electric rates with several reputable residential electric providers. You may pick among several cheaply priced providers on the front page of our site. The rates on the front page of our site are North Texas electric rates so if you are in Houston or down in the Valley you may see slightly higher rates in your area when you go to type in your zip code. Electric Rates are higher across the board in Houston then they are in Dallas and Fort Worth because of congestion and line loss issues in those cities. Texas Power

Are you Looking for a Way to Avoid a Deposit?

Precisely every single provider will ask you for a deposit unless they are a prepaid provider. Why is this the case? The reason is simply because you are buying a commodity from a company that has bought that commodity as a large block purchase, they have than hedged their investment the same as a farmer would do to protect the profit in that purchase. They than create an electricity plan in hopes that several thousand customers will buy the plan in order for them to execute this all in a way that based on volume they make a profit.

Your Texas power purchase will not make a provider a profit if they take on a large percentage of untrustworthy customers that will default on their electricity bill and leave them with excess energy they could not sell at a profit. When bad customers default not only do they leave the provider with energy they needed to get rid of they also are out whatever money the customer did not pay them.

Because providers only make money if they sell their block of energy to at least 3,000 or more customers this takes a lot of planning to get this right and a part of this is that they have a very low percentage of customers who default. By necessity these Texas power providers must check your credit and if you fall under a risk threshold that statistically shows you have a high probability of defaulting well then they ask you for a deposit.

On top of checking your credit and asking for a deposit, providers don’t advertise what that credit score risk threshold number is or how much the deposit will be ahead of time. They need to keep this information secret to get a high number of sign ups because the more sign ups they get the higher number of customers they will get.

Since all providers that aren’t prepaid providers check your credit it makes no sense for a provider to tell you upfront if you fall in this category will most likely reject you by asking you for a deposit of said amount. This will cause most customers to move on to the next provider who is less clear about this but then asks you for the same thing. Eventually you get tired of the continuous game that is more of the same and you settle and pay a deposit with a provider after calling or checking online with a few.

The point I am trying to make is that with any traditional provider you have a big positive in that they offer some good standard long-term fixed rates such as a rate that remains the same for 1 year and is reasonably priced. Don’t feel dejected when they check your credit, find out your credit score is poor and go on to ask you for a deposit. They are simply protecting their large investment in energy and you just don’t meet the statistical odds of paying on time every time.

Don’t feel cheated but understand that in America there are usually a host of options and in this particular case it would be to avoid the deposit altogether by looking at Texas power choices that are known as prepaid electricity rates. These prepaid providers allow you to pay in advance to guarantee the provider always get paid and the positive trade-off for you is that you always have your lights on and no deposit is required.

Our comparison widget can show you some of these prepaid choices if you discover that a post-paid option doesn’t fit your situation because they all want you to pay a deposit.

Spark Energy is currently advertising several different electric rates at a mid price range in comparison to some of the other competitive Texas electric providers. They currently have a 12 month rate at 11.9 cents kWh with no monthly service charge. This is an ok electric rate although Startex Power has lowered their 12 month term rates below Spark Energy’s prices. Startex Power has a slightly better 12 month rate for 11.7 cents kWh with no monthly service charge. To compare current updated rates from providers in your area please use the chart at the top right.

Champion Energy In Comparison To Startex

Startex has the best overall electric rate at 11.3 cents kWh in the Dallas area with no monthly service fee. As of Feb 23 2009 Startex Power offers the cheapest available electric rate in Dallas and Houston. Champion Energy used to be the best electric rate among the low cost electric providers offering promotional discount offers but as of February 2009 Startex Power is offering the best rate. Champion’s promotional electric rate offer has expired although you can sign up with competing suppliers with Startex Power by comparing rates using our tool on the top right of this page. The promo code with Startex is no longer available and since then other providers have come in to compete with this company. We no longer offer Startex on our website to compare with other providers.

Be sure to write down on your calendar 12 months from now to come back to this site to renew with the next lowest cost provider in Texas. We update the site frequently and try and always have the best electric rate going so you don’t miss out on an opportunity to stay with a low cost electric rate.

Those With No Credit History Or Bad Credit

If you are worried the electric company may try and ask for a deposit we have some suggestions on getting by with the cheapest deposit requirement. We have seen that Bounce Energy generally has the cheapest deposit requirement if you have been hit with this request before. We have a compare tool that shows you multiple prepaid companies to compare rates from and sign up with out the worry of a deposit or credit check. The tool is at the top right of this page. As an example of a provider that usually needs a deposit based on credit score, most traditional electric companies that check credit usually ask for $200 – $400 deposit if they don’t like your credit. Other electric providers want even more if you do not meet their credit standards. You may see this as a lot but TXU and Reliant mant times ask for a lot more than what Champion requires. Spark Energy used to waive the deposit amount if you sign up for auto bill pay by credit card or bank account but they have ended this practice. If Spark needs a deposit it may be for around $400 – $500 depending on what they think of your credit history. Startex Power is somewhere in the middle as far as what they come back asking for in regards to a deposit. The best thing you could do is try one of the many prepaid providers we show in our compare tool and sign up and keep that deposit money for groceries. At one time you had to try several providers and pick the lowest deposit you could handle and build up that year of utility bills paid in full before you could get away with not needing to pay an electric company a deposit. Bounce allows you a second chance if you have little or no credit.

Spark Energy Rates Rise Higher

Spark Energy Changes Focus to Selling Natural Gas in the North East

Spark has changed their focus from Retail Texas Electricity sales  to Natural Gas sales in the North East United States. They have been a great company to work with, and have shown high ethical standards, low rates, and fair business practices but do not seem to be actively seeking customers in the Texas Electric market. Although we are unsure as to how long it will be before they realign their efforts and aggressively pursue gaining market share in Texas, We look forward to working with them in the future. Until they do, we recommend Champion Energy as a great company to work with and great rates for Commercial and Residential Customers.  Champion currently has the best 1 year fixed electric rate offer in Dallas, Houston, and most other areas in the state of Texas. You can learn more about Champion Energy’s residential electric rates by visiting this article: Click here to check Champion  information

Spark Energy has raised their electric rate quite a bit higher then several other electric providers in Texas and no longer offers the most competitive electric rates they once did. Because of this we would like to suggest for those looking at potentially signing up on a Spark residential electric rate to go with a more competitive provider. As of January 2008 Champion Energy has a much more competitive energy price in both the Houston and Dallas Texas area. These electric companies serve other cities in Texas but for the sake of comparison we will use these two cities.

Who Do You Recommend Instead of Spark Energy?

Because Spark Energy has raised their rates recently due to the market going up we have a provider that has been able to stay below their rates on the 12 month term. Champion Energy has a very good 12 month rate despite the energy market’s prices rising. I am not sure how long this rate will last but I would sign up while it is still in the 9 – 10 cents per kwh range. Champion and Spark compete with several other terms which are listed in the chart below if you need something other then the standard 12 month fixed rate monthly term.

Champion Energy offers a low 12 month rate as Natural Gas travels down

Champion Energy

Affordable Texas Electricity for residential electric service consumers.
Save 30% off of what most Texas energy companies are charging.

Low Residential rates following Natural Gas movement down

During 2007 we saw electric rates travel down with natural gas prices all the way up to January 1st 2008. Not but a few days after the 1st electric rates spiked up to their mid level historical average from the previous 12 months. Electric rates are still relatively low and a 12 month contract still makes good economical sense.

Champion Energy Residential Electricity

Champion Energy has made quite a swing down with their Texas residential electricity rate. Startex Power has come down even further and does not charge a monthly service fee unless you are using under 500 kWh a month. Most residential energy consumers use over 500 kWh. You can learn more about the cheapest electric provider in Texas by clicking here. Energy has become competitive among the residential electricity providers as many new companies enter the market. On power to choose we see over 40 Retail Electric Providers all offering a different branded product with its own little gimmick to sway you into signing up on their service. There are several hundred different electric rate products but in order to establish some benchmarks when comparing it is best to stick with a fixed rate electric product that doesn’t change during the term of the energy contract.

Residential Electricity Choices

There is the “Market Tracker” with TXU, the “Green Earth” plan with Green Mountain Energy, the Reliant “Power Tracker” and several other branded products to hook you in one way or another. The plans each have their merit but many consumers just want to know, “what is the cheapest plan?” If these Retail Electric companies just sell you the energy while you still receive your power from TXU or Centerpoint Energy as you always have then why not find the cheapest electric company and just go with them?

Going with the cheapest electric provider

I like this kind of logic myself and would start off by recommending you stay away from TXU and Reliant at this time as their products are not very competitive next to the competition. They rely a lot on their big names and it seems to be working. That means they do not have very much incentive to go lower or offer you a lower rate if for instance your contract comes up for renewal.

What is Champion Energy’s Residential Electric Rate?

Champion Energy has a 12 month rate that is 11.6 cents as of August (as of January 27 2008 they are now at 11.1 cents kWh)(Natural gas now trading around $9 – $10 raising Champion’s 12 month fixed electric rate to 12.6 cents kWh as of April 3 2008). The rate came down a lot due to Natural Gas trading around $6 MMBtu. This Natural Gas closing price is not typical and so locking in for atleast 12 months could be a wise choice for a household. They charge a $4.95 monthly service fee which for a house that uses 1500 kwh a month would bring the average electric rate up to around 11.93 cents kwh. This is still very low next to the other competitive providers and you can count on very good customer service, accurate billing and over 100 years of business knowledge in the industry. As of February 2009 electric rates have changed again and Startex Power currently has a better offer on several different fixed rates with no monthly service fee.
